The Allen ISD Athletics Department inducted former athletes into the Hall of Honor Class of 2024 at a recent banquet at Allen High School.
The 2024 Hall of Honor Banquet celebrated the following inductees:
Deonca Bookman: Attended Allen High School from 2011 to 2014. Achievements include district championships in the 100- and 300-meter hurdles, a regional championship in the 300-meter hurdles, and a second-place finish in the state 330-meter hurdles. She received a scholarship to Prairie View A&M in 2014 and set records at the Texas Amateur Athletic Federation and the USA Track & Field Junior Olympics.
Dan Buckner: A standout wide receiver named a prep All-American and played in the U.S. Army All-American Bowl. Buckner was rated the sixth-best wide receiver and 17th overall prospect on ESPN's top 150 national recruitment list. While an Allen Eagle, Dan made significant contributions to the teamâs winning record including a district title. Dan played college football at the University of Texas where he played in the 2010 National Championship Game and University of Arizona. He also played for the NFLâs Arizona Cardinals and Tampa Bay Buccaneers.
Nick Cobb: A dominant force in wrestling, Cobb was a state champion in the 180-pound and 195-pound categories and a UIL team state champion. He also excelled in football as a linebacker, earning First Team All-District honors and leading the team to district and state championships. He played football at Texas A&M as a walk-on,
Matthew Brown: A dual-threat quarterback who accumulated 6,805 passing yards and 64 touchdowns during his time at Allen High School. Brown's record as a starting quarterback was 30-4 and his 2008 team won the state championship after he was injured in a previous playoff game. Matthew later played for the TCU Horned Frogs.
Thomas Hugh Ereckson, Sr. (Deceased): Attended Allen High School from 1944 to 1947 and earned 13 athletic letters in football, basketball, baseball, and track. Ereckson Middle School is named in his honor. His daughter, Debra Arledge, accepted the honor.
Cedric Ogbuehi: A member of the 2008 State Champion football team, Ogbuehi was a four-star recruit and the 13th-ranked offensive tackle in the Class of 2010. He was selected in the first round of the 2015 NFL Draft by the Cincinnati Bengals and enjoyed a nine-year NFL career. Cedric could not attend the event and his honor was accepted by Ian Hastings.
2014 State Champion Football Team. Former Coach Tom Westerberg accepted the honor and was joined by players and coaches from the team.
2014 Womenâs State Champion Golf Team. Team member Julie Huston spoke on behalf of the championship winners.
2014 Menâs State Champion Wrestling Team. Retired assistant wrestling Coach Todd Wycoff thanked the Hall for the honor.
The banquetâs emcee was Ian Hastings and guests were welcomed by Hall of Honor Chairman Bob Curtis.
The inducteesâ names will be displayed on the Athletic Hall of Honor at Allen Eagle Stadium. The Hall of Honor recognizes ex-athletes, employees, teams, or supporters of Allen ISD who graduated from Allen High School at least 10 years ago.
