Cyber Team Qualifies for National Competition
  • Allen High School’s Team Bravo cyber-security team was invited to participate as finalists in the national CyberPatriot competition in March – one of only 28 teams out of 5,200 to receive the honor.

The members of Team Bravo are: Herish Tripathi, Onik Hoque, Anish Bisht, Boden Chen, Rahma, and Soohan Cho.

CyberPatriot is the National Youth Cyber Education Program created by the Air & Space Forces Association to inspire K-12 students toward careers in cybersecurity or other sciences. At the core of the program is the National Youth Cyber Defense Competition, that puts high school and middle school students in charge of securing virtual networks.

This year, several students have joined the Marine Corps Junior Reserve Officer Training Corps (MCJROTC), led by Lt. Col. Mike Wilonsky and Sgt. Maj. Bruce Cole, to pursue their interests in cyber defense. Through the MCJROTC leadership program and the STEAM Center’s cyber programs, five competitive teams were assembled with Matt Bromiley as technical mentor. Bromiley is the Lead Solutions Engineer at security infrastructure organization LimaCharlie. The STEAM Center’s David Ben-Yaakov also contributed to the team's expertise.

Although they did not win awards at the national competition, their performance at local and state levels allowed them to participate in the prestigious event. Great job Team Bravo!
