About Allen ISD

Allen ISD is a nationally recognized public school district providing outstanding educational opportunities for elementary and secondary students. The award-winning district serves the majority of the city of Allen, Texas, as well as sections of Parker and McKinney. The suburban community is located 23 miles north of Dallas. In 2024, Allen ISD is ranked as the sixth-best district in Texas and the best in Collin County with an A+ score, according to Niche.com. The City of Allen is commonly ranked on the “Best Cities to Live” lists.

Student enrollment has doubled since 1989, bringing the current number of students to more than 21,000 in grades from prekindergarten to 12th. Allen ISD is composed of the following campuses:

  • One early childhood school (prekindergarten and early childhood)

  • 16 elementary schools (grades kindergarten through 6th)

  • Three middle schools (grades 7th through 8th)

  • One freshman center (9th grade)

  • One high school (10th through 12th grade)

Additionally, Allen ISD's STEAM Center provides students in grades prekindergarten to 12th grade the opportunity to learn science, technology, engineering, art, and mathematics through interactive, hands-on experiences.

Allen High School boasts a graduation rate of 97 percent and sends more than 90 percent of its graduates to post-high school educational opportunities. Forty-one AHS students were named National Merit Semifinalists in 2024. More than 25 percent of AHS students participate in Advanced Placement or International Baccalaureate programs. Fifty-plus service organizations and clubs at the high school allow students to focus on areas of interest, meet new friends, and contribute to the campus and community through extracurricular activities. The district's academic team won the UIL 6A state championship in 2023.

The Career and Technology program offers students the chance to gain real-life experience and plan for careers. Courses allow students to work in the campus café, Blu’, and operate an on-site retail store, the Eagle Edge. Other options include veterinary science, U.S. Marine Corps JROTC, audio/visual broadcast, banking, and computer animation.

A robust Fine Arts Department allows students to participate in programs ranging from the nation’s largest marching band to dance, chorus, and orchestra. In 2023, the Fine Arts Department saw 20 musicians receive All-State Honors, and three high school orchestras won national recognition.

With a single high school, the district offers a variety of sports options for students. The district’s renowned Athletics Department has produced state championship teams in football, boys' basketball, wrestling, and girls' golf. The wrestling team has won the boys' state title for 13 of the past 14 years and captured the girls' title in 2023. Additionally, volleyball, baseball, soccer, softball, tennis, and swimming and diving teams are perennial favorites to win district titles. The football team was the state champion in 2008, 2012, 2013, 2014, and 2017.

In 2022, The Allen ISD Board of Trustees was named the School Board of the Year in the H-E-B Excellence in Education Awards program.
